Dear Terry,

I have just begun researching my ancestry. My Mother, who is still alive aged 82 but has begun Alzheimers disease, has been trying to help me with dates. She remembers very little but with prompting and probing I managed to get a few dates. Unfortunately not going back very far, but maybe with investigation can find something (even your long lost cousin?)

Christopher Powderly Married Cathering Brannigan in Drogheda, Co. Meath where they both lived and were born.

They had 4 sons, Paul, Joseph (Joe), Frank & Thomas (My Grandfather)
They had 3 daughters, Alice, Rose(Rosh), Cissy(Catherine)

Paul Powderly joined the Irish Army but died before aged 30.

Frank Powderly worked in the linen mills of Greenmount & Boyne, Drogheda as carpenter, then emigrated to upstate New York where he married late, to a widow with 2 children. They had no children together.

Thomas Powderly was my Grandfather (born 1890 approx) in Drogheda,
Co. Meath. Worked in Greenmount & Boyne linen mills along with his brother Frank. Thomas married Elizabeth McNally around 1914 in Drogheda. They had 4 daughters Catherine, Elizabeth, Margaret (Peggy, My Mom), and Carmel who died aged 21 of T.B.
All these people have died except my Mother.
They had 2 sons. Patrick & Christopher.

Christopher died in the 70's. He never married.

Patrick died 6 years ago. He has 1 son named Derrick Powderly who has 2 daughters, no son.

So, at last I come to the one which might interest you Terry.

Joseph (Joe) or even Uncle Joe to my Mother went to work in Belfast in linen mills also, probably a branch of Greenmount & Boyne. He married and had 1 daughter and 2 sons, Joseph and Terrence.
Unfortunately I don't have dates but these children would be my Mom first cousins and if still alive would be around her age (82).
We don't know if Joseph or Terrence had any sons but maybe you can tell me what information you have gathered and together we can trace them.

I look forward to hearing back from you.
Linda Jenkins (nee Madigan) (nee Powderly)
