Leopold Pouche, 82, of Galesburg, died Saturday, April 26, 2008, at his home.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday April 30, at the Wataga
Congregational Church 105 South Sparta in Wataga. Rev. Milton Marquith
and Rev. David Kramer will officiate. Burial, with military rites, will be in the Knoxville Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Jimmy Pickrel, Allen Pickrel, David Pickrel, John Hughes,
Eric Hughes and Marty Turner.

Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to service time Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Shriner’s Childrens Hospital. Online

Mr. Pouche was born March 13, 1926, at Gross, Kansas, the son of Joseph
and Margaret M. Evans Pouche.

He moved with his family to East Galesburg in 1931.

He married Bonnie Jean Pickrel November 19, 1954 in Galesburg, Illinois.

He was a United States Navy veteran having served during WWII as a ship
fitter aboard the U.S.S. Ralph Talbot. and was a lieutenant in the civil
air patrol.

He was previously employed as an iron worker in Rock Island, at the East Galesburg Brick Yard, Rowe Manufacturing Company and Guenther Construction Company. He retired from the scrapping department at Gale Products in 1984.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Masonic Alpha Lodge and
the Moline Consistory.

He was a former mayor of East Galesburg.

He had read the Bible cover to cover several times and enjoyed hunting and

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Bonnie; one son, Jeff Pouche of Galesburg; one daughter, Rochelle Olson and husband Merle of Wataga; two grandchildren, Dawn LaRose and husband Cory of Wataga and Travis Anell of Muscatine, IA; two great-grandchildren, Tyler Kirgan and Camryn LaRose of Wataga; one brother, Joseph Pouche, Sr. of Dahinda; and one sister, Erenstine Nelson of Galesburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
