My husbands family names include Pitner. The ones we are connected with came to probably Bucks Co., Pa. in late 1600's or early 1700's. John Pitner (Buietner??) with wife and infant son, Henry, came about the time the Huegenots left from the River Rhine area. John died and was buried at sea. Henry grew to manhood, married and had at least 3 sons who fought in the REV. War. Two supposedly died and one survived. From this son, came Michael who married a Ruble. They lived in Virginia and moved to Wilson Co., Tn. about 1800. From their to Illinois. Wilson Pitner was one of their sons and he was a circuit rider who eventually came to Wash. and Oreg. He died in the vicinity of Spokane, Wash. One of his daughters, Sarah, married James Washington Paul. They had a very large family and Sarah was postmistress and ran a boarding house along the trail near Rose Lodge, Or. It was on the map at one time as Pitner, Oregon because of the post office. If you think we are connected, let me know and I can send you more information.
