yes and no. My name is Thomas H. Phelps and I am a direct descendant of Ezekiel Phelps b.1801 TN. I joined the Phelps DNA project (look online) and am a direct match with other descendants of Thomas Felps b.1658/59 MD. But as to Ezekiel's father we still dont know for sure. I have several theories, the best being that he is Britain Felps son named in the Roy Parks story who traveled on his mothers lap on horseback (Susanna Waggoner)from NC to TN. The Minnie Twidwell book charts the lineages differently so one or the other is wrong. Thomas Felps who died c.1816-18 TN could be his father, orphaning him to go live with/near his uncle Avington Felps in KY. Ezekiel bought land same day, same place in MO with Avington's children. Third theory is that Ezekiel's wife Malinda Stice grandfather, Charles Stice, will was witnessed by a William Felps/Phelps. these three named men were all (possibly)children Thomas Avington Felps m. Jean Smith (William, Thomas and Britain). I dont have any information from Ezekiel's birth until his marriage in MO 1827. He is named as a founding father and pioneer to Monroe County MO along with mostly Kentuckians who migrated to MO. I have never found evidence as to Ezekiel's death date, even though everyone has him in Scotland MO 5 Mar 1891 - I would love to see it! I do have record of Ezekiel being a trial witness in 1873 so we know he lived past that date. Ezekiel has three unnamed children in the 1830 census: two girls and one boy. By the time the childrens names are included in census info (1850) these children are already adults. I would love to know who they were! so as you can see, still some stones are unturned and I would love to have others out there share additional information! feel free to contact me if you want to discuss furthur
