My great grandfather was born illegitimate in 1908 at the Queen Charlottes Hospital in London. He was given up by his mother, probably due to the social stigma a bastard drew at the time, particularly for women.
His mother is listed on his Baptismal certificate as "May Parry" yet my grandmother is certain his mothers name was "Elizabeth May Parry."
He was fostered by Arthur Collinson from age 3 and later became a master decorator,
marrying Hilda Adams and moving to Australia.
What I am trying to find out is whether "May" or Elizabeth May" can be identified.
I've found a May Parry, born in 1892, who fits the age and geographic parameters, she went on to marry a Wildsmith Holloway and have more children. But without some sort of relative for dna purposes, I can't be sure if she could be his mother.
My great grandfather would never speak of his mother, as he blamed her for a very rough childhood, so I have very little idea as to where to start.
If anyone has any ideas or information, I'd be enormously greatful.
