My name is Lori Panchisin. My father was Joe Panchisin, youngest of 5 children born (that survived) to George (born 8/10/1891)and Anna (Dranchak - born Martii (March?) 1, 1893) Panchisin. Grandpa (George, Sr.) came to the US from Czechoslovakia in 1912 and settled in Pennsylvania. Grandma came over in 1920. They also lived in West Virginia, Indiana, Illinois, and then back to Indiana. I know Grandpa's mother was Maria Panchisin. He was an illegitimate child, so no father's name is available. Grandma (Anna) is the child of Mathias Drancsak (I think they changed it to Dranchak when they came to the US.) Her mother was Maria Rudi? I believe she had a brother, Paul, that lived in Canada.
I have copies of both of my grandparents' baptism papers, and another record from 8/7/1911. They are written in Slovak, Latin, and possibly Russian, so I cannot figure out what everything means. Clearly, Grandpa was from Hostovica, and Grandma was from Nizna, Jablonka. However, the 1930 Census states they were from Russia. If anyone has any information to help me trace back to my Great-Great Grandparents, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
