Fernie OLLINGER, beloved Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and friend, passed away quietly at the age of 93 years, with his family at his bedside. Fernie is survived by his sister, Bertha DUNN, daughter Geraldine "Gerry" McLEAN, sons Fernie Jr., John (Neila), Garry (Rosemarie), son-in-law Larry SPRINGALL, 15 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his beloved wife Beatrice (1977), his daughter Marilyn SPRINGALL (2005), daugter-in-law Anne (1999), son-in-law Warren McLEAN (1993), and his Great Grandson Corey JARVIS (1994).

Fernie and his family moved to Prince George from Vancouver in 1949 to take a position with Pollard Brothers Garage. In the early years, he was well known in the community for his passion for sports and his organization of Minor Hockey and Little League Baseball. He was an avid outdoorsman participating in fishing and hunting activities, and shot his last deer at the age of 92. He loved his curling and a game of golf. Who will ever forget his love of a good card game: cribbage, rummy or poker, where he always seemed to come out on top.

Fernie had been given the honour of a membership in the BPO Elks Lodge #122. He was an active Legion member and had a membership in the Prince George Golf and Curling Club where he was one of the oldest members to win the Kelly Cup.

Fernie always enjoyed a get-together with family or friends who would camp out or just enjoy "The Farm". They could play a round of golf, go for a winter snowmobile trek, have a picnic and build a big bonfire. At "The Farm" everyone affectionately knew him as Gramps, Granddad, Pops or Coach.

Fernie will be sadly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. Visitation will be at Assman's Funeral Chapel held on Friday, May 12, 2006 between 6 o'clock and 8 o'clock. The service will be held at Assman's Funeral Chapel on Saturday, May 13, 2006 at 2 o'clock; interment at the Prince George Municipal Cemetery to follow.

The family would like to extend a hearfelt "Thank You!" to the wonderful staff at PGRH who cared for our father during his stay.
