PAUL - Mack William Neibaur, 77, peacefully passed away on Thursday, September 7, 2000 at Cassia Regional Medical Center in Burley, Idaho.

Mack was born December 22, 1922 in Newdale to Daryl William and Sophie Pfiefer Neibaur. He was raised on a ranch on a ranch new Newdale with his five brothers and three sisters. He graduated from Sugar-Salem High School in 1941. He served as a marine in World War II, receiving the Purple Heart after being wounded in combat during the Battle of Tarawa.

Mack married his eternal sweetheart, Edna Hemsley, on November 7, 1944 in the Logan, Utah, Temple. He considered Edna to be the best thing that ever happened to him. He graduated from the University of Idaho with a Master's degree in Soils and a Bachelor's degree in Agronomy in May 1951. He also played tackle on the University's Football Team during his college career. Mack and Edna moved to the Paul, Idaho area in the spring of 1951 where he remained in agriculture for the next forty-nine years. The Mini-Cassia Chamber of Commerce presented Mack with the 1999 Farmer of the Year Award for outstanding contribution to the business and agricultural community. He served in the Idaho House of Representatives for fourteen years. During this period he was vice-chairman of the Joint Finance-Appropriations Committee.

He also loved to travel, and golf. Mack was a active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as Bishop's counselor, High Councilman, and at the time of his death as the Stake Patriarch.

Mack is survived by his wife Edna of Paul; his children Elaine Blunck, Tempe, Arizona, Daryl (Susie) Neibaur, Paul, Idaho, (LeAnn) Neibaur, Paul, Idaho, Glen (Elizabeth) Neibaur, American Fork, Utah, Mary Ann (Steve) Fullmer, Salt Lake City, Utah, Bonnie Jean (Bryan)cook, Idaho Falls, Idaho, twenty one grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by four brothers and three sisters; Bruce Neibaur, South Jordan, Utah, Warren Neibaur, Paul, Idaho, Darwin Neibaur, Paul, Idaho, Grant Neibaur, American Falls, Idaho, June West, American Falls, Idaho, Afton Wasden, Sugar City, Idaho and Joyce Schofield, Idaho Falls, Idaho.

He was preceded in death by his son William Grant Neibaur, a son-in-law William Bluck and brother Merritt Neibaur.

Services will be held at 1 a.m. Monday, September 11, 2000 at the Paul stake Center. Friends may call Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hansen Mortuary Rupert Chapel or from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Paul Stake Center prior to the service. Interment will be at the Paul Cemetery. The family suggests donations to the Leukemia Society of America, 600 Third Ave., N.Y., N.Y. 1006 (800) 955-4LSA. Arrangements are under the direction of Hansen Mortuary Rupert Chapel.
