I wish I had seen your post 2 months ago. I may have been able to help. I have visited the R.S.Murff homestead and cemetary twice. The last was a year ago. There is apparently a misconception about the site. The old place is VERY dilapidated and falling in from disrepair. The foundation was built of very large logs, rough-hewn. The site is not on the main north-south highway out of Saluda (hwy 20 something?), that is the home one of his sons built. It is a very nice place. I remember there was a wisteria vine that the owners believed was over a hundred years old. Go north from this house, to, I believe, the next paved road to the left. At the end of this road is a gate from which you can see the old 1830 building. If you go down the hill (outside the gate) to the left for about 150 yards, you will find the cemetary in the grove of trees. Last year I went down behind the house to the Saluda river (about 300 yards), where Randolph supposedly operated the ferry. I hope this helps in the future.
