I am interested in getting more information about Aaron M. Moulton
born (1792?) in Sandwich or Franklin, NH and Sarah Eastman
born(1808?) in Concord or Exeter, NH and their respective parents.
Their daughter, Sarah Jane Moulton is my great-great-grandmother.

I recently received the following 1860 census information from
another Moulton researcher:

"I know nothing about your Sarah Jane and didn't have her in my
notes at
all. She is the next older sister to Mary Jane who was born in 1838.

Here is the 1860 census for Sandwich:

1860 census dwelling 536 household 541
farmer $300/200
Aaron M. Moulton, Sandwich, age 68,
Sarah 52,
Albert 25
Henry 16,
Lydia 11,
Emily 9
Jennifer 6

Sarah Jane Moulton is my great-great-grandmother on my father's
paternal side. I have some additional information about the Aaron
M. Moulton line from a family letter, but there isn't any primary
source documentation. It states that this line goes back to the
Hampton Moultons, specifically Jonathan Moulton. The letter states
that, "Gov. Wentworth gave Jonathan a grant of 19,000 acres of land
above Lake Winniepeesukee (sic) so he sent up some relatives and
others to settle the grant of New Hampton. Later with another grant
and colony he founded Moultonboro and Sandwich, areas hence finding
Sarah Jane Moulton from up there."
There is also a footnote from a second source, "From the History of
Hampton, page 866. XVIII Ezekiel Moulton had a son Ezekiel, b. May
16, 1740, m. Feb. 2, 1762 Ruth dau. of Stephen Sanborn (31). They
had a son William, born Oct. 30, 1763; he settled in Moultonboro,
NH. Is he Sarah Jane's grandfather?"

About Sarah Jane Moulton:
b. May 12, 1836 in Sandwich, NH
d. March 7, 1912 in Exeter, NH
m. (1) Michael J. Murphy Aug. 10, 1857 in Bridgewater, NH Grafton
(2) Benjamin Collins
Sarah supposedly divorced Michael J. Murphy because of his
drinking. She had 11 children. I have 9 names:
(1) Henry Walter (changed from Patrick Henry)
(2) William Herbert (my great-grandfather)
(3) Jenny M.
(4) Sadie W.
(5) Lizzie
(6) Margaret
(7) Catherine
(8) Edward
(9) Arthur
She had a home in Exeter on Franklin Street where she died. At the
time 7 of her children were still living-noted are William Herbert
Murphy (my great-grandfather) and Edward Collins-both in Exeter.
(from her obituary)

About Henry H. Moulton:
