My Samuel H Moon is found on the 1830 and 1840 Fed Cen for Madison, AL By 9 Nov 1850 Monroe Co, MS Fed Cens the family is house #368 and now Samuel's son Samuel is head of household as a well digger, his mother Susannah Moon, sister Susannah Moon age 22, Easter Moon age 23, Joseph Moon 19, Sylvester Moon 26 are all living with them. Samuel's brother living next door was William Moon age 29 a farmer with wife Nancy (Crosslin) Moon age 21 and son Edward H. MOon age 1.
By this time Samuel H. Moon's oldest dau Charity M.(Moon)age 33 was mar to John Turner Shipman age 28 and they are found on the 1850 Monroe County,MS Fed Cen ,house 423, family 439, children Elizabeth age 6 b MS, Charles J age 1 br MS and a man living with them named David Adams age 66 holding $125,000 of real estate b SC.
In the Madison Co History BK it speaks of an Eli Moon which I wonder could have been Samuel H Moon's brother or cousin.
There was a Jacob Moon b 1727 living in TN who I wonder might have been Samuel H. Moon's father.
By 1860 Aberdeen, Monroe Co., MS house 307 Susanna Moon age 65 listed as head of household, occupation weaver. Ling with her were Samue Moon age 36, Susanna Moon 33, Easter (Moon) THompson 32 and Easters dau Sarah Thompson age 8 b AR. Two house away was her oldest son, William Moon's widow, Nancy (Crosslin) Moon age 31 and her children EW (Edward W.) Moon age 11, Nancy Moon 3, Martha Moon 1 all b MS (Wm Moon did 2 Dc 1859 Monroe Co, MS) Real estate val at $2,000.00. Since WM Moon was the firstborn son he probably inherited a large sum of money or land from his father, Samuel H. Moon's estate.
On the same 1860 Monroe Co MS Fed Census, family #331 was John Turner Shipman age 36 occu overseer, wife Charity M (Moon) Shipman age 42, children Charles Shipman age 11 b MS, L.C. age 8 b MS (d. 19 FEb 1924 Scurry Co, TX), Mary E (Ella) Shipman age 6 b MS and Martha (Jane) age 1 b MS. This family later moved to TX (first to Kimble Co, TX where Charity Moon Shipman died of dysentery) Then later to Denton, Denton Co., TX where John Turner Shipman held property and remarried to Sarah Wallen/Wallace Norris. His son Charles Joseph Shipman mar 5 Feb 1874 in Denton Co, TX to Misselana "Anabelle" Anderson.
John Turner Shipman and Charity M Moon's dau, Mary Ella Shipman b Jun 1854 Aberdeen Monroe Co., MS d 1945 Hereford, Deaf Smith Co, TX was first Mar to Tom Ed Dickson of Denton, TX but he fell off a horse shortly thereafter and broke his neck. She remarried to Eleazer Berry Orr of Denton, TX and they are found on the 1900 Denton Co TX Fed Census. Also living with them are her father, John Turner Shipman age 78, and Mary Ella Shipman Orr's aunt, Susanna Moon age 67.
