Petronilla P. Montagna Amatangelo, age 86,
formerly of Erie,pa,
died Sunday February 26, 2012 in Wadsworth, Ohio
after a brief illness.
She was born July 7, 1925 in Rocca Pia, Italy,
a daughter of the late Luigi and Maria Giammario Montagna. Petronilla worked at Hector's Restaurant for over 40 years. She was an avid crocheter. She loved her family and enjoyed taking care of them and preparing large Italian meals for everyone. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Panfilio Amatangelo; one brother, Joe Montagna; two sisters-in-law, Karen and Sheryne Montagna and two aunts, Dina Giammario and Petronilla Barletta. She is survived by two daughters, Nancy Rosato and husband Alfred of Wadsworth, Ohio and Maria Wroblewski and husband Phil of Clymer, N.Y.; one son, Nicola Amatangelo and wife Linda of Chandler, Ariz.; five brothers, Dino Montagna and wife Cleotelda of Rocca Pia, Italy, Paul Montagna and wife Jennie, Tom Montagna and wife Loretta, Nick Montagna, all of Erie and Mario Montagna of Philadelphia, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Paulina Montagna of Erie and six grandchildren, Christine, Michelle and husband Eric, Vincent, Christopher, Philip and Nicole. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Iliana and many nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to call at the John R. Orlando Funeral Home Inc., 2122 Raspberry Street, on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. and may attend a service there on Friday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Saint Stephen RC Church, 1237 West 21st Street, at 10 a.m. Entombment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association , 1128 State St. Suite 301, Erie, PA 16501. The family would like to thank Magnolia Village for the wonderful care given to their mother.
