December 12, 1991

James Duane Meriwether, was born on March 18, 1922 in Boneta, Utah to Dewey and Sylvia Knight Meriwether. He died where he was happiest, in Rock Creek, Utah on Dec. 9, 1991

He married Barbara Ellen Burdick in Heber City on December 12, 1946.

He is survived by his wife, Duchesne; Michael Scott and Candyce Meriwether, Heber City; Melanie Meriwether, Albuquerque, New Mexico; Laurie Meriwether and Paige Meriwether, Salt Lake City; granddaughters, Rachelle Young, Meagan Glade, Danielle, Lynsie Rae and Charelle Lyn Meriwether; brother, Marvin, Murray; sister, Ruby MacMillan, Morgan; and mother-in-law Maxine W. Burdick, Duchesne.

He was a member of the Army 101st Airborne Division, he served in Europe during World War II. Friendships that started then continued through a lifetime and are a tribute to him. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, packing and being outdoors, but most important to him was sharing those things with family and friends. He was active in the American Legion, Duchesne Post 22, and regularly recruited new and inactive members. He was a regular member of the Color Guard, always carried the American flag, and was a participant in all Veteran services.

He was a natural entertainer, people loved being with him. He set a standard for relationships that many have strived for, few achieve.
