David Wayne Merriweather [TMSI #48954]
March 2, 2012

David Wayne Merriweather (TJ) was born on August 18, 1954 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was the youngest of three sons born to Pat and Thelma Merriweather. While he was a young boy, the family moved to California. David grew up in Farmersville and graduated from Exeter High School in 1973.

When he was a young man, David worked a variety of jobs and received a certificate in diesel mechanics from the Adult School. He worked as a mechanic until a back injury forced him to find a new career. He spent several years as a janitor at Golden West High School and later, for Building Maintenance Company.

He met his wife, Kaye Lynn Kubehl, in 1986 and they married the same year. His daughter Patricia Ann, was born in 1987 and his son, David Chase, was born in 1988. Together they started a janitorial business in 1987 that David operated until 1994 when the family moved to Colorado. Again, David started a janitorial company from scratch and saw rapid growth. The family moved back to California in 1999 after the passing of his father.

In 2000, David started experiencing health problems which prevented him from working. While doctors predicted he only had a few years left, David believed that God would heal him. He devoted the next 12 years in ministry to recovering drug and alcohol addicts, the lonely and the homeless. He served as President of the Frontline Motorcycle Ministry, head usher at Frontline Ministries, and played bongos & drums in the worship team there. His friendly disposition and quick smile earned him friends from all walks of life. He did his best to love everyone he met with the love of Jesus.

David's struggle with liver disease ended on February 28, 2012. He passed peacefully at home with his family surrounding him. He was preceded in death by his father, Pat Merriweather, and his grandson, Colton Matthew Weststeyn. He is survived by his wife, Kaye, daughter, Patricia Westteyn with husband Ryan John Weststeyn & grandson Gavin John Weststeyn, son David Chase with wife Claudia Merriweather & grandaughter Scarlett Merriweather; mother, Thelma Merriweather; brothers Larry Merriweather and Chris Merriweather; adoptive sisters Elaine Garza, Christina Clark and Jenni Saldate; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of David's life will be held on March 11, 2012 at 5:00 pm at the Frontline Ministry church building 27450 Road 148 Visalia, California.

Note: He was a descendant of James Meriwether and Judith Hardenia Burnley through their son David Meriwether and his wife Frances Wingfield. Family Group M1227a
