My maternal grandmother was a Ménard, and as I was searching for possible relationship with Pierre Ménard, first lieutenant governor of Illinois, I came upon your message. I have no idea if I am related this man, but I have two sources on Pierre Ménard who was born in Saint-Antoine on the Richelieu river in Québec on October 7, 1766; father: Jean-Baptiste Ménard, called Brindamour, a soldier of the regiment of Guienne, married to Marie-Françoise Cirée, called Saint-Michel (?). Pierre Ménard nephew, Michel, founded Galveston, Texas, in i836.

I hope this can be of some use.
