KNOXVILLE, Iowa -- Wayne 'Woody' McQuillen, 77, of Knoxville died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001, at Veterans Affairs Medical in Knoxville after a short illness.

At his request there will be no services. Burial was at Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery in Rock Island, Ill.

Mr. McQuillen was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy.

He was in the floor covering sales and installation business.

Survivors include a brother, Lyle; two sisters, Esther Clemens and Jane Gronert; a sister-in-law, Maurine; a brother-in-law, Norris Gronert; and many nieces and nephews.
TIPTON, Iowa -- Francis Lee McQuillen, 74, of 605 Lynn St., Tipton, died Saturday, March 1, 2003, from complications of cancer.

Memorial visitation is 6-8 p.m. today at the Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Honorary pallbearers are Danny Raymond, Larry Blake, Norm McQuillen Jr., Cecil Baird, Billy Baird and Lee Sterner. The body will be cremated. Burial will be held at a later date in Gorin, Mo.

Mr. McQuillen was born Nov. 30, 1928, in Bennett, the son of William Lester and Helen Bernice Wharton McQuillen. He married Mary Darland in 1966 in Rock Island, Ill.

He attended Tipton High School.

He worked in road and metal construction.

Survivors include a stepdaughter, Brenda Beard and her husband, Cecil; two stepsons, Dale Darland and Bill Darland; three sisters, Janice McCrea of Olin, Vivian Wiskus and her husband, Henry, of Tipton and Doris Heisch of Lowden; a brother, Warren McQuillen and his wife, Sharon, of Kewanee; and step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and a brother, Lewis McQuillen.
