So nice to hear from you. We do know a bit more about our family now!! My line of McLennan's is: Donald, b. abt. 1790 (we think in Kintail area); married Marion/Sarah Matheson of and in Lochalsh, and had several children there -- before moving on to Bunavidrea,Isle of Harris area and then to Teallisvay as a shepherd. Marion died there, but he emigrated to Bruce Co., Ontario, Canada with all his children in 1851.
In the late 1870's several of the children moved on to Duluth, Minnesota -- to include my gr.gr. grandfather, Alexander who was married to Helen Stewart -- her parents: Donald Stewart (don't know where or when he was born for sure, but ended up in Avernish as a miller) and Mary Finlayson, 1811 of Achmore. They emigrated to Ontario, Canada about 1855, Mary having perished on the ship over.
We do know that there are some McLennans still living in Ross-shire that are related, but cannot seem to find the connection. We are still at a brickwall with Donald's family (thinking he and brother, Findlay were son's of an Alexander); brickwall with Marion/Sarah Matheson and Donald Stewart's family.
Would love to hear more about your McLennans, as I do have more information on some of the McLennans that did not emigrate.
