I'm looking for information on my ggg grandfather, James McKim. He was likely born sometime between 1810 - 1816...possibly earlier.
James McKim married Elizabeth Colhoon (Colhoun?), who was born around 1816. They had six children, of whom my great-great-grandfather, Alexander, was the third, born in 1845 (I think) in Donegal, according to some accounts.
Among the other children were James, Robert, and Margret (or Margry, or "Maggie").
James McKim died when Alexander was nine, which puts his death somewhere around 1854, although I do not know where, or how he died. His wife, "Eliza", came to the US with sons Alexander and Robert (then ages 17 and 16, respectfully) in 1862.
The only locale I've seen attached to the family was Donegal, which is listed in unofficial records as the place of my gg-gf's birth...this said, both James and "Eliza" were of Scottish "extraction", and other family accounts mention Scottish areas including Kilwinning, Glasgow, and port Glasgow.
I've tried everything, and cannot find any information on James McKim's year of birth, place of birth, place of death, or anything else for that matter.
Any help would be very much appreciated!
