I am a descendant of James and Mary Boland McDonald, who emigrated from County Kerry, Ireland to Newfoundland in the 1830's and then on to Bureau County, Illinois, near Arlington in the 1850's. Mary died in 1861 and James in 1881. They are buried in St Vincent's cemetery in LaSalle, Illinois. One of their daughters, Norah (1836-1929), married Thomas McDonald (1827-1901). Thomas was the son of Jeremiah and Mary Ellen Moriarity McDonald. Thomas had a brother named John, who married Mary Ann Broderick. John died in 1913 and Mary Ann in 1935, both are buried in Calvary Cemetery in Arlington, IL.

Don't know what the relationship was between James and Jeremiah McDonald, though it seems they would have been related as they followed the same emigration pattern and settled in the same areas. And their children married.

Would be happy to exchange information with you. Am wondering if the funeral card you have is my James McDonald? He was born around 1799 and died in 1881.
