My name is Joseph McCooeye and I am very much interested in information concerning the McCooeye clan of Osgoode township. I am 28 years old and I currently live in Morrisburg, Ontario.
My father is Peter McCooeye who was born and raised in Metcalfe, ON. He lived on a small farm that was located across the road and to the west of the original McCooeye property in Osgoode (I think).
My grandfather was Francis (Frank) McCooeye who passed away in 1993. He married Margaret Parton and had seven children: Jack, Marilyn, David, Robert, Roy, Sandra, and Peter.
My great grandfather was John Douglas McCooeye. My father remembers old John D living with him as a child in the 50's until he passed away.
The home that my Aunt Sandra (McCooeye) Dillabaugh lives in currently was at one time the McCooeye Farm Homestead. It is about 5 miles north of Metcalfe on Regional RD 8.
As far as I can tell, John Douglas McCooeye's father was Alec McCooeye. His father was Red Tom McCooeye. I do not swear by that progression though....
I also remember my Granpa Frank (the best storyteller who ever lived!) talking about his uncle Spittin Sam McCooeye. I wish I had sat down with Granpa before he passes away and got all this down. Although,I am fairly certain that my Aunt Marilyn has a family tree.
