I have conflicting information on Thomas and wonder if anyone can shed any light on the subject. One source indicates that Thomas McClurken came directly from SC to IL. The other shows him living in Kentucky and Indiana in between. I haven't been able to verify that he was in Kentucky or Indiana. Has anyone else?
From the book "Revolutionary Soldiers Buried In Illinois" by Harriet J. Walker, I have the following:
In Washington County:
"Thomas McClerken was from Chester County, Camden district, South Carolina. He removed to Kentucky, and from there to Indiana, and thence to Washington County, Illinois, where he died and is buried near Sparta. A stone tells of his being a Revolutionary soldier."
From the book "History of Oakdale [Illinois] Township," by Lawrence Hood and Claudine Coulter:
"...Archibald Hood, and his wife and child, his widowed brother John and two children, the James McClurkin family, the Thomas McClurkin family and the James Kirkpatrick family. These people arrived on the west edge of Elkhorn Prairie just a few miles from Ayers Point and made their final camp in May 1830 after six weeks journey from South Carolina."
