Here's a short Ahnentafel for Shepard Markle:

1. Shepard B. Markle, b. 1820, d. 1907
+ Drucilla R. Monroe, b. 1820, d. 1898
2. Jasper/Casper Markle b. 1790, d. 1880
3. Mary "Polly" Lobinger b. 1792, d. 1881
4. Gaspard/Casper Markle b. 1730 Berks PA, d. 1819
5. Elizabeth Grim, d. 1755
6. John Lobinger
7. Sophia Moyer
8. Johan Christian Mercklen
9. Anna Catharina Brucker
10. Egidius Grim
11. Anna Catharine _____

Source: Merkel, Norton W., THE MERKEL, MERKLE, MARKLE, MARKEL FREUNDSCHAFT, privately published Fleetwood PA (1978). This source has many errors, but is usually pretty accurate on this line.

No. 8 above was the immigrant and came directly to PA. There is a Markley (originally Merkel or Merklen) family early on in Montgomery Co. PA that appears to stem from the original Palatine emigration to NY and some members were for a time in Canada. I think the immigrant who spent some time in Canada was an Abraham Merkel whose wife was Anna Veronica __. The son who came to PA was Jacob. You will find some records of Jacob's family in the records of Swamp Lutheran Church, Skippack and Perkiomen townships, Montgomery co. PA.

Neither of these families are my line so I don't have a lot of additional information.
