CLARKSBURG: Eleanor Marie Manly Stinson, 85, of Clarksburg, Ohio passed away Friday, March 2, 2012 at 7 p.m. at the Valley View Care Center near Frankfort, OH where she had been residing the past year.
Eleanor was born May 30, 1926 at Millersburg, Ohio in Holmes County, Ohio to Frank D. and Isha H. Marchand Manly.
She married Byron Stinson on March 9, 1946 and lived in the New Holland and Clarksburg communities from 1946, following Byron's internship at Mt. Carmel, except for a brief period in 1951-52 when they lived in Albuquerque.
She had formerly been nurse and manager for her husband at his Clarksburg practice. She later was an administrative assistant for the Dean of Students at The Ohio State University. Before her retirement, she had been a long-time onurse at Fayette County, Ohi Memorial Hospital.
Eleanor was a member of The Ohio State University President's Club; had been a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Clarksburg Married Women's Club which, for many years, was a great source of pride and entertainment for all of Clarksburg.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Bethany Stinson Stevenson in 1985; a daughter-in-law, Teresa Stinson in 2011; and a granddaughter, Katherine Stevenson.
Eleanor and Byron would have been married 66 years this week. She was the light and love of his life. Everyone should be so blessed to have been loved so well.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Byron B. Stinson; a daughter, Melany Stinson Newby (Trygve Lonnebotn) of Merrimac, WI; a son, Manly Stinson of Frankfort, OH; a son-in-law, Dr. John Stevenson of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; six grandchildren, Shannon (Glenn) West and David (Kori) Stevenson, all of Mill Valley, CA, Sarah (Kala) Radl of Volcano, HI; Brandt (Nicole) Stinson, Rachel Stinson and Byron R. Stinson, all of Washington Court House, Ohio; and five great grandchildren, Ella and Ava West, Katherine and John Thomas Stevenson and Audrey Grace Stinson.
The funeral will be Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in New Holland with family members offering remembrances.
Burial will follow in the New Holland Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home in New Holland from noon Wednesday until the time of the service.
