KEELING, VA: Victoria Anne Manley, 69, of Keeling, Virginia, formerly of Ohio, peacefully passed away June 17, 2012 in Danville, Virginia, after a valiant fight and with great courage from an aggressive form of Parkinson's disease, surrounded by family and friends.

Proceeded in death by parents, Robert and Mae Manley; beloved brother, Hamilton Manley; and great niece, Sydney Purcell.

Anne was born in Greensboro, N.C. April 19, 1943 and grew up in Newark, Ohio, graduating in 1961 from Newark Catholic H.S., she then went on to The Ohio State University where she majored in Education.
Anne received her J.D. from the Ohio State University and was admitted to the Ohio Bar in 1978.
After practicing law in Athens, Ohio, Anne attended Temple University where she received her L.M.A., returning to Ohio to teach at Ohio Northern University.
Anne moved to Virginia as a Senior Attorney for the Virginia Legal Aid Society, retiring in 2008.
She was a woman respected for her integrity and gentle spirit, a lifelong activist, who always put other's needs before her own. A sister, friend, colleague, auntie, mentor, lawyer, gardener, advisor, chef, athlete and intellectual with a passion for jazz and lifelong learning, she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Anne is survived by her brothers and their wives, Donald Michael (Stephanie), John R. (Angelica), Terry (Diane); her sister, Peg (James) Betts; and her sister-in-law, Marisa Manley; eight nieces, five nephews, 12 great nieces and nephews, two great great nieces; and a circle of beloved friends.

A celebration of life will be held in Danville, Ohio in September.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Anne's memory to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
