Whilma Patricia Luigs, 56, first-born child of James Kirby Luigs and Imogene Priscilla Fick, was born April 27, 1948, at Jefferson City. She died March 1, 2005.
As a young child, her parents left her and her brother to live with their maternal grandparents, Elias Frank Fick and Maimie Brandell Fick, for a few years.
Suffering from cerebral palsy at age 5, she was placed in a nursing home to receive the medical care she needed. She lived at Higginsville in her late 20s, Sedalia and Pierce Home in Armstrong and in 1972, Marshall State Hospital. In 1989, she moved to Pine View Christian Home in the Summersville community and was called "Patty Cake."
She was reunited with her family about three years ago.
She enjoyed doing crafts, lip syncing, humming and going out in the community. She donated quilts, blankets and baby supplies to Newborns in Need and made wall hangings, pot holders, jewelry and other craft items.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
Surviving are her brother, Robert of Prescott, Ariz.; three half sisters, a half brother and her guardian, Theresa Campbell.
Services were March 3 at the Bradford Funeral Home Chapel in Summersville with the Rev. Gary Steelman officiating. Burial was in the Midvale Cemetery near Summersville.
