I have a needle in a haystack question. Others in my family have been able to track my ancestry back to Joannes Tuchscherer (b. 1698) of Westernohe, Germany. He had a son named Frantz (b. 1717) who had several children, among them a son named Georg Josef (b. 1758). We haven't been able to track back any further than Joannes so I figured I'd take a look at the Tuchscherer descendants in America and see if I could find another track back that might give some insight.
Georg Josef came to America as a Hessian soldier in the Revolutionary War.
Anyway, to keep a long story long, I've determined that there is a Karl Tuchscherer who came over to America from Katschurgen, Russia. He was born there in 1853. There may have also been other immigrations around the same time by Catharina, John, and Dominick. But the trail pretty much ends there.
I'm guessing (hoping) that at some point between 1776 and 1853, one of the children of Frantz moved from Westernohe (near Frankfurt) to Katschurgen, Russia. Research shows that there was immigration into that region around 1808.
To close the long story - if anyone has information that confirms or refutes this hypothesis, I would appreciate it very much.
