Have Leonard Nelson & family in Conecuh Co, AL in 1830 & 1840.
The family first appears in Santa Rosa Co, FL 30 Oct 1850 as follows:
371/371 Division 2, Santa Rosa Co, FL Leonard Nelson 50, wife Lurena 45, children Mary A 18, Josiah 13, William 11, Zelpha L 6, Sarah 4.
Son Ansel is in 372/372 as follows:

Son Thomas is in 362/362 as follows:
362/362 Division 2, Santa Rosa Co, FL Thomas Nelson 27, wife Mary 20, siblings Sabina 13 & Amanda 8, children Thomas 5, James 2 & John 1.
Leonard Nelson married Lurena Hudgens 16 Sep 1821 in Jones Co, GA.
At this point I have their children as follows:
1. Thomas M b 1820-22 AL
2. Ansel b 1824 AL
3. 3rd Son Nelson b 1826-30 (per 1830 & 1840 Conecuh Co, AL census)
4. Mary A b 1832 AL
5. 5th Son Nelson b 1836-1840 (per 1840 Conecuh Co, AL census)
6. Josiah b 1837 AL
7. Sabina b Dec 1837 AL (I have her on census records until 1910 & she died in 1911)
8. William b 1839 AL
9. Amanda b 1842 AL
10. Zelpha L b 1844 AL (found her later on census records; she apparently never married & worked as a domestic)
11. Sarah b 1846 AL
Sabina married George W Layfield & on the 1860 census they are found as follows:
6 Jul 1860
194/194 P. O. Milton, Division 2, Santa Rosa Co, FL Benjamin Hampton 55, Mary 23 b AL, children Sabra 7 & James 2. In the same house are Georg W Layfield 25, wife Sebrina 22 b AL, children Joseph 3 & Georg W 6 months.
The Sabra listed on this census is my husband's 2Great-grandmother. I've pondered over what possible relationship there could be between the people found on this enumeration and, as best I can come up with, I believe the link is the 2 females, Mary & Sebrina both born in AL.
I know the age is off some from the 1850 census, but have come to believe that Sabina's sister, Mary, married Benjamin Hampton. It's the only thing that makes sense, but I have to prove it.
Would dearly know if anyone descended from this family has had their DNA tested? Both my husband and his 3rd cousin (a female descendant of Sabra's have tested).
I'd welcome contact with anyone researching this family.
