Here is some of the familytree that I have:
William Layfields father James was from Ireland and came to the US around 1790 (not sure of date) he lived in Maryland and then Virginia (now known as WV)
According to a book called Ritchie county history by Minnie Kendall Lowther, James his wife and all of the children except two were captured by Indians. William and his brother were not captured.
William Layfield was married twice. First wife was Margaret Crawford. Their children were: John, James, Ellison, Sanford, David, William Jr and Mary.
John Layfield married Elizabeth Moats and they had eleven children (one died in childhood) the children were:Henry,John Jr., Jacob, George, James, Mary, Margaret, Sara, Elizabeth, and Julia.
Julia never married but had Two daughters Emily and Luverna.
Henry Layfield married Harriet Cain and had nine children (one died as an infant) the rest were: Sanford, Nancy, Ellen, Enoch, Katharine, David, Frank and Harper.
Katharine Layfield married Daniel Lowther.
this family is from Ritchie county West Virginia. Some of the family fought in the Civil War on the Union side.
