Tappen, ND Centennial 1878 - 1978 Index 1 - page 64
was orphaned by a tornado near Watertown, SD at a very tender age. He was given a foster home and completed grade school while there, then decided to face the world alone. Still quite young and wandering along a road, he met up with a couple who decided after a little conversation, to give him a home with them. He moved to Tappen along with this couple; Fred and Sylvia Wallner. Here he stayed and grew to manhood.

He married Peggy Prentiss, whose parents were operating a hotel in Tappen at the time. Frank and Peggy went farming for themselves, on what was known as the old William Hasse farm. The home there burned, and as there were very small children, a new location was needed immediately, so they moved onto the Tommy Noonan farm.

While living there, to meet additional finances for a young family, Frank also engaged in masonry work along with Magnus Nerby.

When construction started on the Fort Peck Dam in Montana, the couple decided to move there and seek employment. Being an industrious person, Frank easily found work and stayed there until completion, even though for a time, due to a housing shortage, they made their home in a tent.

Fra there they moved to Puyallup, Washington, where Frank found steady employment in a lumbermill. The couple resided there.
