Looking for more information on George KERSTETTER, b. about 1821 in ? (1850 census says MI, 1880 says Ohio, could even be PA?).
He married Jemima THOMPSON 16 April 1843 in Mottville, St. Joseph County, MI. He was 22, she was 18. His name is spelled Kershteller on the marriage record.
1850 Census they appear in Mottville Township, St. Joseph County Michigan:
George Kerstetter - 28, Mich
Jemima - 24, O
Joseph - 6, In
Daniel W. - 4, In
Lewis - 2, Mich
Mary E. - 5/12, In

Haven't located them in 1860, 1870 yet, but believe they are in Indiana. Joseph appears in 1860 in Mottville Twp, St. Joseph Co, MI as a 16 year old with his grandparents (Andrew and Mary THOMPSON).

I located the family in Gaylord, Smith Co. Kansas in 1880:
Kerstetter, George, 60, Carpenter, b. Ohio, parents b. Penn
George, 28, son, farmer, b. In, Parents b. Ohio
Benjamin, 25?, son, mason, b. IN, parents b. Ohio
Lydia E., 23?, daughter, Keeping house, b. IN, parents b. Ohio
Jemima, 56?, wife, Keeping House, b. Ohio, father b. VA, mother b. Ky (This page is light print, difficult to read.

I am trying to find what line George is connected too since my John KERSTETTER was also in St. Joseph County Michigan. Looking for a possible connection between the two.

Joy Kersteter
