Can you believe I Just Now found your reply to my initial post? Wow, 5 years later! I have been out of the genealogy circles for quite a while now and am just starting to try to get back into it a bit by starting with my husband's family tree. He was Ydna tested years ago with DNA Heritage who I don't think still exists. We did find that we had an exact Ydna match to a family who had tested with FTDNA and we found that via Y-Search, which is now also defunct! (g-r-r-r-r) Now, I have No way of knowing if my husband has any new matches or not. At the time he had just the one match, whose family did indeed come from the Wurttemberg (spelling?) area of Germany.
We were in touch and exchanged info. My husband's haplogroup/type was at that time a very long R1b.....something something, but it now listed as R-U106. He is 23 at DYS390 but DNA Heritage did not test the other markers I read about under the R-U106 info pages, so I don't know.
If you are even still here, or connected to this Surname project, hopefully if you leave me a message, Ancestry will notify me of your reply so I can get back to you quicker than 5 years.
My husbands family landed in SC in 1752. Their last name was orig. spelled or interpreted as Kansman, but then was changed over. Thank you.
