Hi and thanks for your reply. In Polish the ending of a females surname like in the case of KURWOWSKI would be spelled and pronounced differently than a male. The female version has the "i" changed to an "a" thus the spelling KURWOWSKA. My GGM was marianna (Chmielewska) Renkiewicz. Not CHMIELEWSKI. Here in the U.S. the gender connotation doesn't matter. In Poland it does. The reason I was interested in the "KURKOWSKI" surname is because my great Aunt Anna (Renkiewicz) Ciecierska wrote a letter to my GF JAN RYNKIEWICZ prior to 1939 and had addressed it to a Mr. Kurkowski who at that time must have been living close to my GF in Nanticoke, PA because Anna didn't know if her borther JAN was still alive here in the U.S. as her other brother Antoni who emigrated in 1899 had died on 10 Dec 1934 in Nanticoke, PA. I was trying to track down the connection of the KURKOWSKI's to the RENKIEWICZ/RYNKIEWICZ's assuming they were either friends or family? Thanks for your family info.

God Bless
