Leiberherr, a teacher of Quincy, Ill; 2nd daughter Elizabeth, married Leopold Kessler of Portsmouth, who died 31 Dec 1899, buried in Greenlawn Cemetery, Portsmouth, together with 2 children but no Elizabeth; oldest son Peter Kaps, born Bavaria 19 May 1833, fought in Civil War Co K, 15th Ky Infantry; married Elizabeth Evans of Portsmouth 1/1/1871, had 4 boys: James E., George P., Henry H., and Caspar who died 11/29/1882, age 2; John Kaps born Baden, Germany 2 Nov 1836, died 10/13/1913; Co. G, 1st Oh Infantry; married Jennie McIntyre on 13 Feb. 1873, daughter of Daniel McIntyre who came to Portsmouth when he was 21 from Ireland. Two sons, John and Harry.
"Caspar Caps" appears in 1850 census in Portsmouth with new wife Catherine born 1800 or 1801. I think she was a widow, as there are two daughters, C. and A. Coffman. They married 9 feb 1847, per Scioto Co. Marriages. I believe that "C. Coffman" evolved into Catherine Caps, born about 1845 in Bavaria, who married John F. Schlicter born NY (alternative family spelling is Schlichter,) settled in Portsmouth, Ohio.
