Lewis Thomas Kaelin was my father. his father was LT Kaelin Sr. who was married to my grandmother Violet Larish. my grandfather was the last survivor of the Kaelin family established in 1862 by my greatgrandfather Moritz who came to Phila as a teenager from Einsiedeln SW. Moritz was born in 1851 and died in 1917 (burried in New Cathederal cemetary)My grandfather had a brother Joe (July 1, 1887 to 7/9/47) and a sister Rose (1895 to 5/19/69).
my father was an only child and always referred to as Tom or Bud to dstinguish him from his father. My brother is also LTKaelin and called Tom. Tom lives in Paris and my sister Virginia Ann Kaelin (McNulty) lives in Virginia. I live in Bucks county with my wife and am almost retired. My only son David E Kaelin Jr lives in East Brunnswick NJ with his family and my two grandsons (Moritz's clan lives on!).
My mother is still alive (Virginia Grace Kaelin 93 years young) and still lives in the house I grew up in northeast phila. She has the most recollections of "Nan Larish" my grandmothers mother. Nan Larish was married to John Larish (second marrage her first husband died young?) Violet was adopted by John my mother believes.
When I burried my father I changed the stone in Northwood cemitary to include the Kaelin Name. There is one space left and I expect my mother will be there. the plot deed was among my grandmothers effects left to my father.
Most of this informationis from family sources or one of the two cemitary plots that I know of. (Northwood and New Cathedral).
