I'm trying to figure out if the YUHASZ/YUHAS family I am researching is actually spelled JUHASZ. So far, I have been unable to find any records with that spelling of this surname beginning with the letter "J". All records give birth place as Austria, Austria Slovak and in one case, gives it as Slovak-Czechoslovakia. Did the family I am researching originally come from Hungary?

MICHAEL "MIKE" STEVE YUHASZ was born May 20, 1874. He died on October 31, 1918 in Dunmore, Lackawanna County, PA. He had a brother, JOSEPH YUHAS, born about 1891 in Austria Slovak. On the 1910 Census, JOSEPH was single at the age of 19 and living with his brother MIKE, his brother's wife, SUSAN and six of their children in Dunmore, PA. After the 1910 Census, I was unable to find what happened to JOSEPH YUHAS. 1900 Census gives MICHAEL YUHASZ's immigration date to the USA as 1890. JOSEPH YUHAS' immigration date to the USA was given on the 1910 Census as 1909. I have not been able to find out any immigration information on them. On MICHAEL's death certificate, his parent's names are given as MIKE YUHASZ and EVA OZORKA. MICHAEL's wife SUSAN's birth place was also given as Austria and Slavak-Czeckoslovakia. Her birth date being March 1880 on the 1900 Census. SUSAN's maiden name is MIZO or MEZO. Her first name has also been given as SUZANNA and SUZIE. She apparently had two married sisters who resided in Illinois, in or near Chicago. However, I don't know their given names or their married names. Children of MICHAEL "MIKE" and SUSAN YUHASZ/YUHAS are: MICHAEL CYRIL YUHAS (died single at age 22), GEORGE YUHAS, b. abt. 1899 (Never married), MARY YUHAS, b. abt. 1903 (married a man with the last name of SHAMONSKY (not sure of the spelling of his surname), PAULINE YUHAS (I believe she died young), JOHN C. YUHAS, b. abt. 1907 (married SOPHIA V. GEMZA), ANDREW B. YUHAS, b. in 1909 (married MARY ANN WOJCIK), IRENE C. YUHAS, b. 1914 (married VINCENT TESORIERO) and VERONICA "VERNA" YUHAS, b. abt. 1918. All their children, except for their first-born, Michael Cyril, were born in Dunmore, Lackawanna County, PA.
