Johnson family - James Anderson or George W?

Hi everyone,

I just found some conflicting information on an individual in my tree, and I'm wondering now which is correct.

My initial tree had this:

Samuel Johnson (1792- 3 May 1858), married Sarah Patsy Hightower (1794-1866)
|
James Anderson Johnson (1813-4 Mar 1889), married to Rhoda Downing (17 Dec 1812 - 11 Mar 1899)
|
James D Johnson (12 Dec 1849-3 Jun 1922)
|
Roy Andrew Johnson (1886-1942)
|
Roy Andrew Johnson Jr (1916-1952)

But I've got 2 census records, 1860 and 1880, that give me a different story:

George W Johnson (1805-?), married Rhoda
|
James T Johnson (1848/9-1922 I guess)
|
Roy, et al.

Would anyone be able to help me know which one is correct? Do I scrap the James Anderson Johnson line and all that goes back there? The Samuel Johnson I linked to got me back to Scotland. Through a George Johnston who knew Patrick Henry, and a Doctor James who went from Scotland to Maryland (which sounds odd given that the entire rest of my family has never been north of Virginia elsewise), to a Sir George from Caskieben who married Lady Christian Forbes. If all that's not my family, I don't need it in my tree, but it seems the Johnsons stop at George W if I put him in there.

I've attached the images of the two relevant census forms.
