Your message from 3 years ago got hung up in a spam folder I obviously don't check very often. The way I learned to find ancient kin connections was attending meetings of the local county genealogy society (or in nearby counties). Then I accompanied the little old ladies (we didn't have any other male experts then) when they went to libraries and archives to search. I paid attention to how they searched, tried it out myself, then asked the local experts when I got stuck.

I never compile 20th century people's information, because of privacy hassles, since some of them might still be alive. So I wouldn't have records that'd directly help y'all, until you find your lines back to about the 1850 us census.

You may have already answered those particular questions years ago, but nowadays the 1940 us census records might be a useful place to start looking for your kin.
~~Happy searching,
