YOUNGSTOWN – Margaret Hruska, 91, of the city’s westside, passed away Sunday afternoon, March 27, 2011, at Hospice House with her family by her side.
Margaret, who was known to many as “Julia,” was born July 19, 1919 in Youngstown, Ohio a daughter of the late Stephen Sr. and Maria Dovica Kovach, and was a lifelong area resident.
She was a graduate of Chaney High School, worked at Republic Rubber, and became a homemaker who dedicated her life to raising and caring for her family.
Mrs. Hruska was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Youngstown, and was a member of the church’s Altar Guild.
She enjoyed watching hummingbirds, gardening, and cherished the time she spent with her family.
Her husband, Andrew Hruska, whom she married April 28, 1951, passed away, Nov. 25, 1993.
Margaret leaves her son, Allen (Denise) Hruska of Youngstown, OH; two grandchildren, Justin and Caitlin; two sisters, Pauline Farmer of Boardman, Ohio and Sally (Stanley) Chermely of Canfield, Ohio; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Kovach of Austintown, Ohio and Flora Kovac of Canfield; and several nieces and nephews.
Margaret will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Besides her husband, an infant daughter, Joyce, two sisters, Mary Dezort and Susan Marvich, and two brothers, Steve and John Kovach, are deceased.
Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown.
Family and friends may also call from 10 to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 31, at St. John Lutheran Church, 1429 Mahoning Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio where funeral services will take place at 10:30 a.m.
Interment will follow at Tod Homestead Cemetery in Youngstown, Ohio.
Margaret’s family thanks Dr. Gerald Mihok and Dr. Joseph Ambrose, the staff at Select Specialty Hospital, and the staff at MVI Hospice and Hospice House, for the care given and kindness shown to Mrs. Hruska during her illness.
