Timothy Horrigan and Catherine Riordan were both born somewhere in Ireland, possibly between 1820 - 1830. Earlist record I've found of them in the United States is for their son, Daniel Horrigan, who was born in Illinois about 1852.
Found the Louisiana marriage certificate of their son Daniel Horrigan and Alice Mulligan. The marriage took place 4 May 1876 in New Orleans (although the 4th may not be correct. It's not clear but the certificate was registered 12 May, so the marriage was before that.) Their license was issued on 1 May 1876.
Alice Mulligan was the daughter of Daniel Mulligan and Medalia Kearney. Alice was born in Louisiana.
Known children of Daniel and Alice were (there may have been more):
Mary Horrigan, Richard Daniel Horrigan, Alice Horrigan [m. Woley], and possibly Catherine.
Richard Daniel Horrigan Sr. married Mathilda Dorothy "Tillie" Reed, whose second husband was Louis V. Schwall.
The children of Richard Daniel and Mathilda Dorothy were:
Richard D. Horrigan Jr. [m. Eunice Mae Landry], Gladys Horrigan [m. Richard L. Barrios], Dorothy Horrigan [m. Henry J. Heitzman], Roy Joseph Horrigan, Mildred Octavia Horrigan [m. Fenner Oliver Sedgebeer], and Patrick Daniel Horrigan [at least two marriages].
Several of these family members are buried in St. Patrick Cemetery #2, St. Dominic Ave. within the cemetery, in New Orleans.
This family has been in New Orleans since before 1880, had lived in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana, for a time, and has long-time ties to Bay St. Louis, Mississippi.
Daniel Horrigan died in New Orleans, 8 February 1937. Alice Mulligan Horrigan was already deceased by this time. (per Daniel’s death certificate)
I'm looking for information when Catherine Riordan and Timothy Horrigan immigrated to the United States, where were they from in Ireland, where and when did they marry, and if they lived in other areas of the USA, plus any other children they may have had besides Daniel.
I've done several searches for Catherine and Timothy, together and separately, but there are hundreds of listings for Catherine Riordan! I'd appreciate any help or advice. Thank you.
