Thankful Hopkins b 26 Jan 1778, daughter of John Hopkins and Azuba Howell (Eastham Massachusetes). Thankful married James Young (b 1755).
One of their children is Gilbert M. Young B 1815. (checking on other siblings)
Thankful's son, Gilbert M Young, Married Deborah (last name not located yet)
Gilbert and Deborah had 4 children: Elcenia, William, Lizette and Ava.-Winterport, Waldo, Maine
Elcenia D Young, grand daughter of Thankful Hopkins and James Young, married
John W. Carleton, Winterport, Waldo, Maine Dec 16 1857
Elcenia and John had 5 children (1870 census):
James, Rose E, John W Jr, Joseph C
Leon J.
Son Joseph C.(Thankful and James' great grandson), Married Louise M Minnich. abt 1905.
Joseph C and Louise M lived in Amherst, Erie, New York for the remainder of their lives and had 6 children: Jessie, Helen, Leona, Francis J, Milton E and Martha Ann.
Joseph C. Carleton (d April 1930) was my grandfather, Louise M my grandmother. (They passed well before I was born in 1947)
His son, Francis J. (b Sept 16 1909 - d Aug 9 1999), was my father.

So, tracing back, it looks as if Thankful Hopkins Young is my 4th great grandmother, and therefore, I and my siblings descend from Stephen Hopkins/Mayflower.
Of course it all has to be verified over and over, but I have found a lot on ancestry as well as imply googling it. Mayflower Society has lot.

If any of this is familiar, or you can add to it, please do!!!!
