DAVID MARTIN HAPES
David Martin Hapes, son of Bert and Audry Hapes, was born at Tescott, Kansas, on June 12, 1910. He departed this life December 6, 1967, at St. John's hospital in Salina, Kansas, at the age of 57 years, 5 months and 24 days.
On January 25, 1936, he united in marriage to Margaret Christensen.
David's youth was spent in the Tescott community, and after serving three years of duty in the Marines, he was employed by the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. Due to ill health, he retired November 29, 1966, after thirty years of service with the company. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Elks, Odd Fellows Lodge, and the Retired Telephone Pioneers of America.
David was preceded in death by his mother, two brothers, and one sister.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret; his father, Bert Hapes of Tescott, Kansas; and two sisters, Mrs. Albert Peterson of Tescott, Kansas; and Mrs. Velsie Tatlock of Lyons, Kansas. He also leaves many other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, December 8, at 2 p.m. at the Chapel Funeral Home in Salina, with the Rev. Duane Levin officiating. Music was furnished by Mrs. Lyle Nelson and Mrs. Mitchell McClure, with Mrs. Steve Percival as accompanist.
Casket bearers were Lyle Nelson, Bert Roberts, Charles Rhea, Bill Morris, and Harold Eisenhauer.
Interment was in the Franklin Cemetery at Tescott.
