Jeanette-7, Zebulon Joseph-6, John-5, Peter-4, John-3, William-2, Peter-1 Hallock

The 1928 shows a sketch for the above Jeanette Hallock which shows she was born abt 1820 in Medway, Greene, NY (HG uses Medway, Albany in error - Greene Co was formed from Albany and Ulster, NY), married a man named Robins (no first name) listed 6 children: Emma, Clara, Ida Bigelow, John, Clarence, and Lodusky; and died in Madison, Wisconsin.

No dates of any kind are given, but some names of spouses are given, usually last names only; and sometimes a place where the person might have been living. That reference is in the current tense, meaning where they were living when the Hallock Genealogy was published, or 1928.

Note that Jeanette had a daughter named Lodusky and a sister named Loduskia (spelling per Hallock Genealogy) - there are many spelling variations.

As mentioned many times on this board, there may have been some actual genealogical work done on portions of this work, but some (many?) parts were from family questionnaires and correspondence. This sketch looks like it was from such a questionnaire because it so short on details.

We find a family of Anthony and Jeanette Robbins in the census records for Jefferson County, Wisconsin from 1850-1900, which seem to fit this family. (Usually spelled Robbins and headstone is Robbins)

The family was larger than 6 children, but all 6 of these names are accounted for; and especially Loduskia, which is such an unusual name.

In addition to the six names matching, including Loduskia, the Hallock Genealogy said they lived in Madison, WI. The family is in three censuses in a row in Waterloo, Jefferson, WI, which is 25 miles east of Madison, WI. Also, both Anthony and Jeanette in Wisconsin censuses show born New York, and the first five children are shown as born New York.

Further evidence that the family found in the census is the one described in the Hallock Genealogy is that the spouses given in the Hallock Genealogy are found to be the spouses of the children found in the census records, in the location where the Hallock Genealogy said they would be.

These censuses are probably findable on free, as well; but here they are in ancestry (if you have a subscription.)

1860 Census Waterloo, Jefferson, Wisconsin

1870 Census Waterloo, Jefferson, Wisconsin

1880 Census Waterloo, Jefferson, Wisconsin

1900 Census Waterloo, Jefferson, Wisconsin

The 1900 Census raises a question about which son was the husband of the Minnie Robbins in the house with Jeanette with her four Robbins children.

Here is what I have so far on this family:

Additions, corrections and omissions are all welcome!

Wife of Zebulon-6, John-5 Hallock, Death Certificate of son Leander Hallock

This was a large family and very well may be a large branch of the Hallock tree by now. Tracing the descendants beyond the first generation born in Wisconsin will be a bit of a challenge. Perhaps a descendant has already done a genealogy?

Additional information is welcome. Thanks in advance for your support of the Hallock Genealogy Project, an effort to document, correct, and expand, the published Hallock Genealogies.
