We have been researching the history of the Hadath family for more than two years, since our marriage brought four Canadian Hadath step-children into the English life of Dick Chandler. We will share this information freely with anyone who an enrich and extend it.
We have traced the Hadath family back to the 1770s in the area of England now known as Cumbria, close to the border between England and Scotland. At that time, variations of the name start to appear - Haddow and Haddock. It appears that all these names have a common origin, meaning an area of land that today we would call "208 Acres" - that is the title of our book.
We would welcome contact with anyone about the history of the Had(d)ath family, though we are especially interested in tracing the ancestors of the 1770s Cumbrian Hadaths.
