Hi my name is Frank Kenward

I am searching my Kenward ancestry but am also researching my home city of Hereford, Herefordshire, England. As a result I am looking into lot's of old local newspapers, at present I am studying the Hereford Journal of 1770 to 1774. Some of the stories I am finding are fascinating, others are just basic information like a marriage or death, but the data may help you find a missing link. The data source is unique, I believe that there are no other copies of the Hereford Journal outside of Hereford if not England.

I would like to share my research with people who share the family names of the characters I uncover and might therefore be related.

I am working on creating a web site to celebrate life present and past in Herefordshire and would appreciate any information you could give me on the subject, or any information on the Kenward family tree. If you believe that you have an ancestor that lived in Hereford mail me the details and I will try and find any info on them, I cannot guarantee that I will be successful but I will try.

E mail or

Oh yes what did I find in the Hereford Journal

Hereford Assizes

Monday last (27 August 1770)

JOHN TROTTER for stealing a cart gelding, the property of Mr JOHN PRICHARD of Madley.

EDWARD JONES, for breaking into the dwelling of WILLIAM HARMAN and stealing thereout several sorts of wearing apparel.

Both were capitally convicted.

Elizabeth the wife of the said EDWARD JONES, was tried for the same offence and acquitted. THOMAS HITCH, ELIZABETH CRADDOCK, RICHARD CRADDOCK, her son (who was brought as an evidence against his mother), THOMAS POWLES and JOHN GWILLIM were found guilty of several offences.

JOHN BOWCOTT, CATHERINE BARROW and DAVID WILLIAMS (who was brought on Monday last, from GLAMORGANSHIRE, by habeas corpus, for plundering a Dutch ship wrecked upon the coast) were acquitted.

The trial of MARTHA OAKLEY, for the murder of her bastard child does not come on till tomorrow morning.

And we can assure the public, from good authority, that the trial of CAPT. BOWEN, for being accessory before the fact, in the murder of the late Mr POWELL of Glanareth is postponed until the next assizes, but the trials of LEWIS LLOYD BOWEN and JOHN WILLIAMS for being accessories after the fact will come tomorrow.

If I find any more information on this character or his/her relations or name sake I will post it on, if you want me to search for another name or just want a chat, e mail me on the above addresses and I will be happy to reply.
