Edna Maud Sanders Gross,age. 107,
formerly of 6765 Hall Road Sinclairville died Fri., Aug. 10, 2012 at Lutheran Social Services, Jamestown.

Born July 1, 1905 in Nashville, NY., the daughter of the late Harvey and Maude Green Sanders.

Edna married Floyd J. Gross on May 14, 1926 in the town of Cattaraugus. They were married for 53 years until his death on Feb. 19, 1980. Floyd and Edna had four children: Hazel, Forrest, Edgar and Rosalie, and also raised a grandson, Robert Carlstrom.
The family moved to Charlotte Center in 1945, then to Hall Road in 1960. Floyd and Edna were dairy farmers and supplemented their income by raising chickens, pigs, growing strawberries, working in grape fields and making maple syrup. The farm is still in operation today as C & W Farm LLC, and is owned and operated by some of her grandchildren.

Edna enjoyed crocheting, knitting, sewing and various other crafts. She earned many First Place ribbons at the Chautauqua County Fair and was the Grand Champion in the Arts and Crafts division many times. She also enjoyed playing cards, cooking and baking and was famous for her chicken and biscuits. She liked to travel and although she never drove a car, she was able to visit much of the United States in the company of her family members in her later years.

Besides her parents and husband, Edna was preceded in death by three of her children (Hazel, Forrest and Edgar), a grand-daughter, Shari Peck, two brothers, Lee and Lewis Sanders, two sisters, Eva Pfluger and Marion Harvey and also two half siblings, Alice Albion and William Sanders. She is survived by her daughter Rosalie (Philip) A'Brams of Albion and grandson Robert (Ann) Carlstrom of Sinclairville. She has 13 additional grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 20 great-great grandchildren and many step grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Iola Press of Gowan-da, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation 3-6 p.m. Sun-day in Jordan Funeral Home, Sinclairville. Grave-side service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Charlotte Center Cemetery.
