GRIMES II, Burleson "Burley" 63, of Mechanicsburg, Ohio died Thursday, June 27, 2013 in Miami Valley Hospital.

He was born in Troy, Ohio on September 29, 1949, the son of the late Burleson and Rosemary (Hall) Grimes.

Burley was a graduate of Mercersburg Academy, Mercersburg, Pennsylvania and The Ohio State University.
He proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a Lieutenant aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Hancock during the Vietnam War.

He owned and operated several farms in Clark and Champaign counties (Ohio) and previously owned Grimes Tractor Co., a John Deere dealership, in Urbana, Ohio.

Burley currently served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Ohio State University NROTC and the Polo Club. He formerly served on the Tecumseh Land Trust board. He was a member of the Van Dyke Club, Polo Club, S.A.R., and Miami Valley Polo Club.

A life-long outdoorsman, Burley's passion for bird habitat conservation led him to found the local chapter of Pheasants Forever and served as the chapter president for many years.

Burley is survived by his wife of 29 years, Deborah L. Hill Grimes; their children, Burleson A. Grimes and Rose Marie "Mia" Grimes; two sisters, Lucy Kyle (John) Sanders of Troy and Louise Bietendorf of Tucson, Arizona; and two brothers, Douglas (Andrea) Grimes of Centerville and Charles (Janice) Grimes of Casstown.
Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Rosemary Bietendorf, Prescott and Kyle Sanders, Aaron and Elizabeth Grimes, Shane Hill, and Emily Russell.

He was preceded in death by a brother, John Legler Grimes and a nephew, Bradley Hayden.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4-7 p.m. Monday in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME.

A celebration of Burley's life will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013 at his family farm, 6891 Brigner Rd., Mechanicsburg.
A private burial will be in Honey Creek Cemetery, Christiansburg.
