The 1870 and 1880 Kalamazoo schedules show that Emily and Gabriel, who married 8 Jan 1863, have ten children. I believe Lucinda b.1825 is Emily's step-daughter. I also strongly believe the other nine is from the union of Emily and Gabriel; they include Verlinda b. 1865, Sopinia b. 1869, Gabriel b. 1872, Abraham b. 1876, Michael b. 1877 d. 1933, Harriet Francis Green b and d. 1878, Eva May b. 1879 d. 1894, Mary E Green b. 1881 and Harry Green b and d 1886. However Michael and Verlinda had returned to Ohio as they are enumerated in the 1870 Belmont County Census and I found Benjamin Stewart's marriage to Helen Carter in Washington County, Ohio which means he returned to Ohio as well only to make it back to Michigan were he died in 1922. Roswell also left Michigan but he went to Pennsylvania.
In the Kalamazoo Gazette I found word of Eva's (Emily's daughter) death as she was set to return from visiting her sister ( I don't know which one?) in Grand Rapids. What I do know is that Eva was fifteen and it was around Christmas.
I also found word of Abraham's (Able's) marriage license and marriage to Lily Rosetta May Henley.
Finally circa 20 March 1895 in the Kalamazoo Gabriel's obituary it reads: Gabriel Green died Tuesday morning at 7:30 at his home, 809 Third Street of dropsy, at the age of 75 years. He had been ill a week and grew worse from Friday. He leaves seven children Mrs. Lincoln Moss, Gabriel, Abraham, Mercy all of this city, Charles, Harvey; Mrs James Ward of Benton Harbor. He leaves a brother Samuel Green who it is thought lives in Ludington.
Before I found these two pieces of information I already knew that Emily died at the age of 52 in 1898. I believe I have her death certificate among my copious records.
I am looking for any and all relatives of the GOINS-GREEN family.
