Hi all,
I found this obituary in the Obituary Collections at

[Eastern Ohio]

Kent William Garber
Kent William Garber, age 74, died Monday, August 13, 2001 at Mercy Medical Center of Canton after complications of a severe stroke he suffered on July 19th, of this year. A life-time resident of Bolivar, he had retired to Dover, OH in 1994. He was born January 15, 1927, in Canton, OH, the son and only child of the late Ross Myers and Helen (Schilling) Magdalene Garber. A 1944 graduate of Bolivar High School. Kent first worked for the Garber Lumber and Construction Company in Strasburg, OH., When war interrupted life around the world, Kent served his country in the Merchant Marines. After the war, he married Delores Marie Dee (Setterlin) Garber on September 5, 1948 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Bolivar. They took over the Garber Family Farm, Edgewood Place, which they operated most of their lives. In addition to farming, Kent worked as a county meat inspector and sanitarian and as an employee of Delocon Wholesale of Bolivar and of Lawrence Township. His life time passions were farming, cars, and a love of Woodworking. Many new people treasure the furniture he restored and that he made himself, often from unique designs of his own creation. An avid bowler earlier in life. He joined the Canton Shuffleboard Club seven years ago after developing an interest in the sport over many winters spent in Florida. He is survived by his wife, Deloref Dee of Dover; and a daughter and son-in-law, Beckie and Martin Garber-Conrad of Edmont Alberta, Canada. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 377, Bolivar, OH 44612 in memory of Kent Garber. Because St. Paul's Lutheran Church sanctuary is currently being renovated, the funeral services will be held at The Church of The Holy Trinity, 1835 Dover-Zoar Rd., N.E., Zoar, OH. Calling hours will be Friday (today) 10-11 a.m. at the church where the services will be at 11 a.m. Rev. Dan Schaefer will officiate. Burial in Ft. Laurens Cemetery, Bolivar.
