John Gallman/Goleman married Christina Gray in ~1771, and they had a single child by 2 Mar 1773, when he petitioned for a 200-acre land grant. The land was surveyed on the Pacolet River, and he let the plat expire without claiming it. Instead, he bought 350 acres on Cannon's Creek (near his Gray in-laws) from local Dunker minister David Martin in May 1773. John died in 1788. He and Christina are buried together in the Gallman cemetery 8 miles east of Newberry SC. Their son George (1772-1807) is buried near them, along with other family members.

John Gallman's father Henry (called "Henry Jr." to distinguish him from the older Capt. Henry Gallman from Zürich) died before 1768. In 1769, his mother Keziah died and his older sister Elizabeth (married George Keith in 1759) was the administratrix of her estate. This suggests that John was not yet a legal adult by 1769, and may have been born ~1753. His wife Christina was born no earlier than 1755, so they were a very young couple when they married in ~1771.
