I know that it is speculative that William Gaddy arrived in this country sometime in the early 1700's But there are lots of things to tie them together. Somewhere in the Mormon files, and on the web, it is listed that William and his wife Mary had 5 boys and two girls. William born 1721, Mary , Sherwood, George, Thomas, Elizabeth and Joseph. William purchased land in Chesterfield Co, VA and his will left the farm to his wife Mary. George owned the farm ajacent to his fathers. When Mary sold the farm, George sold his and moved to Bedford Co VA. Earlier, Thomas went west and in 1747 purchased land in Brunswick Co. He later was forman for a Mr Arnolds and Tithed for two years. He sold the farm that was now in Bedford moved to Halifax NC. Now to time them a little more together. When Mary sold the farm, a Witness was daughter Elizabeth who was married to a James Black. I am not sure what happened to William, however, I have located a William and Jr in the local area of Virginia, But George and Sherwood both followed Thomas to the Bedford area. I cannot identify Thomas wife except that she was named Lucy. She was not listed when he purchased the land in 1747, but she was a seller when they sold the land in 1760. I have heard that A GADDYn arrived in this country on a ship named the Carolina Galley sometime around the 1715 era. I do have Williams will and Marys indenture and Thomas indenture when he purchased the land in 1747. If I can be of further assistance, please notify. Merry Xmas and a wonderful new year. Bob
